It is a requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 that fire extinguishers are regularly maintained in accordance with the relevant British Standards. Subsequently BS5306 Pt 3 states that portable fire extinguishers be serviced 12 monthly and discharge tested every 5 years and CO2 extinguishers be overhauled every 10 years.

Changes in the law mean all UK businesses MUST have a written Fire Risk Assessment in place by 1st October 2006 - if you do not comply you may be fined and/or face a prison sentence. On 1st October 2006 the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 became law. Emergency Lighting Systems
We install and maintain emergency lighting that illuminates designated escape routes when normal lighting fails or the mains supply is interupted. Guidelines for where and how many luminaires are necessary to provide a safe working environment are detailed in BS 5266. The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996, states your obligation to have adequate provisions of exit and safety signs to be illuminated by emergency lighting.
